Why the deadline matters

Starting in 2027, Bilt members will earn points on their housing payment as a percentage of card spending, in place of earning 4% back in Bilt Cash on all spending [1]. If you hold the Bilt Palladium Card, you can opt into the old rewards system through December 31, 2026, and that choice will be honored in 2027 and beyond [1].

The Palladium is the most premium card in the Bilt credit card portfolio [1]. This piece covers what the card offers, how the two reward systems differ, and what you can check before the deadline.

What the card costs and pays

The Bilt Palladium Card has a $495 annual fee [1]. Bilt card annual fees range from $0 to just shy of $500, so the Palladium sits at the top of that range [2].

The welcome bonus is 50,000 points and Bilt Gold status after you spend $4,000 within the first 90 days on non-housing purchases [1]. The welcome offer also includes $300 in Bilt Cash upon approval [1].

On everyday spending, the card earns 2x points per dollar, plus 4% back in the form of Bilt Cash [1]. Spending on Bilt cards also earns Bilt elite status, which unlocks better Rent Day promotions [1].

Credits and travel perks

The card offers $200 in Bilt Cash annually as an anniversary bonus [1]. It also offers up to $400 in Bilt travel portal hotel credit every calendar year, paid as a $200 semi-annual credit that requires a two-night minimum stay [1].

A Priority Pass membership is included, with up to two guests allowed [1]. Bilt offers 26 transfer partners: 18 airlines, seven hotels and one rail partner [2].

The old system and the new one

Under the opt-in grandfathered system, cardmembers keep earning 4% back in Bilt Cash on spending [1]. That Bilt Cash is redeemable for housing payments, the Points Accelerator feature, and hotel credits [1].

The Points Accelerator earns an extra 1x point per dollar spent up to five times per year, by redeeming $200 in Bilt Cash [1]. Bilt Cash awards expire 12 months after they are earned, on the last day of that month [2].

Under the new system, the Palladium would earn $600 in Bilt Cash annually, starting in 2027 [1]. Housing points then follow a schedule tied to your rent. You earn 1.25x points on housing when you spend the same or more as your monthly rent, for example $2,000 [1]. You earn 0.5x points when you spend at least 25% of monthly rent, for example $500 on $2,000 rent [1].

How Bilt cards handle rent

Bilt now offers three rewards credit cards that let cardholders earn rewards on rent or mortgage payments with no transaction fee [2]. The original Bilt Mastercard was no longer available and was sunset in February 2026 [2].

With the housing-only option, cardholders can earn up to 1.25X points on housing payments instead of earning Bilt Cash [2]. Under the Bilt Cash option, cardholders earn 4% Bilt Cash on every purchase, and earning points on housing payments costs 3% of the payment amount in Bilt Cash, which is $30 Bilt Cash per 1,000 Bilt Points [2].

The other two Bilt cards

The Bilt Blue Card has a $0 annual fee and a $100 Bilt Cash welcome bonus upon approval, and it earns 1X Bilt Points on everyday purchases [2].

The Bilt Obsidian Card has a $95 annual fee [2]. It earns 3X points on groceries or dining on up to $25,000 in spending per year, then 1X, plus 2X on travel and 1X on everyday spend [2]. It includes a $50 Bilt Travel hotel credit semi-annually for qualifying hotel bookings of at least two nights, and a $200 Bilt Cash welcome bonus [2].

You may own only one Bilt card at a time, but the company recently added the ability to upgrade and downgrade between cards [2].

What this means for you

If you hold the Palladium, the deadline of December 31, 2026 is the date to watch, because the old system is available by opt-in through that day [1]. Opting in means you keep earning 4% back in Bilt Cash on spending [1].

Compare that with the new system, where the card would earn $600 in Bilt Cash annually starting in 2027 [1]. Your housing points under the new system depend on how your card spending compares with your rent [1].

Check one more detail: Bilt is devaluing World of Hyatt points transfers as of 2027 [1]. Bilt Cash also expires 12 months after you earn it, so the timing of your redemptions matters [2].
