Bilt card changes: what the 2027 switch to simpler benefits means for you
Your default earning rate on a Bilt card drops from 4% Bilt Cash on everyday spend to up to 1.25x points on housing, unless you opt out in time.

What changes at your anniversary
By default, all Bilt cardmembers will earn up to 1.25x Bilt Points on rent or mortgage payments, instead of earning 4% Bilt Cash on everyday spend. [1] The move starts on your next card account anniversary, when Bilt credit cards shift to what Bilt describes as a simpler set of benefits. [1]
This piece covers the earning change, the opt-out, the Palladium and hotel changes, and the new perks, so you can decide whether to act before your anniversary.
How earning works now and after the switch
Before the 2027 changes, Bilt credit cardholders can earn 4% back on spending in Bilt Cash in addition to points. [1] As of January 1, 2027, the 1.25x points rate on housing payments becomes the automatic earning rate. [1]
Under the housing-only option, cardmembers who do not reach the 25% minimum spending threshold earn 250 points on their rent or mortgage payment made through Bilt. [2]
How to keep 4% Bilt Cash
If you want to keep the 4% Bilt Cash earning option, opt out of the new benefits in your card settings before your card anniversary date. [1]
Opting out has a cost. You keep eligible annual credits, but you cannot switch between Flexible Bilt Cash and housing-only mode. [1]
Palladium and hotel redemptions
Bilt Palladium cardholders will go from $200 Bilt Cash plus a $400 Bilt hotel credit annually to $600 in Bilt Cash annually, which can be used more flexibly. [1]
As of 2027, Bilt Cash redemptions for hotels will be limited to twice per year. [1] For Palladium members, the hotel limit is $200 semi-annually, or $400 annually. [1]
New perks and upgrades
Gold and Platinum members will be able to redeem Bilt points at check-out for Home Away from Home hotel bookings. [1] The point-to-value rate for those redemptions is not yet known. [1]
Platinum members will receive rental car status matches to SIXT ONE Platinum and Hertz President’s Circle. [1] Bilt has also introduced the ability to upgrade cards through the Bilt app, effective immediately. [1]
Daily Rewards
Bilt will roll out Daily Rewards starting January 15, 2027. [1] Each on-time monthly rent or mortgage payment earns Daily Rewards, as does one daily activity with a qualifying neighborhood partner. [1]
Prizes include $1 million toward a home purchase, 10 million Bilt points, a year of free rent or mortgage, and a year of free Lyft rides. [1]
The Bilt 2.0 cards
Bilt 2.0 launched three new rewards credit cards with varying annual fees, benefits, and rewards rates. [2] It also makes homeowners eligible for rewards on mortgage payments, not just renters. [2]
The Bilt Blue Card is the only Bilt 2.0 card with no annual fee. [2] The Bilt Obsidian Card earns 3x points on either dining or groceries, with groceries capped at $25,000 spent per year before dropping to 1x. [2]
The Bilt Palladium Card welcome offer is 50,000 Bilt Points plus Gold Status after $4,000 in everyday purchases in the first 90 days, plus $300 of Bilt Cash, subject to approval. [2]
What it means for you
If you hold a Bilt credit card, the new benefits arrive on your next card account anniversary. [1] Unless you act, you will earn up to 1.25x Bilt Points on rent or mortgage payments instead of 4% Bilt Cash on everyday spend. [1]
If you prefer the 4% Bilt Cash, opt out in your card settings before the anniversary date. [1] You then keep eligible annual credits but cannot switch between Flexible Bilt Cash and housing-only mode. [1]
If you hold a Palladium card, plan around the move to $600 in Bilt Cash annually and the hotel limit of $200 semi-annually. [1] If you are Gold or Platinum, watch for the Home Away from Home point-to-value rate, which is not yet known. [1]
