Two issuers, different strengths

The Capital One Venture X Business card asks for $40,000 in spending in the first four months before it pays its 150,000 bonus miles, a bar that is too high for many business owners. [1] If you run a business and want rewards on travel, that number shapes which card you can realistically use. [1]

Both Capital One and Chase offer business cards that can earn and redeem rewards for business travel, but their strengths are not the same. [2] Each issuer has a premium travel business card alongside a more affordable option. [2]

One issuer offers consistent rewards on all purchases and straightforward redemptions. [2] The other provides higher earning rates in select categories and more flexible travel credits. [2]

The Venture X Business card

The Venture X Business card has a $395 annual fee. [1] It earns unlimited 2X miles on every purchase, with no limits or category restrictions. [1]

It earns 10X miles on hotels and rental cars and 5X miles on flights and vacation rentals booked through Capital One Business Travel. [1] Cardholders also get an annual $300 credit for bookings through Capital One Business Travel and 10,000 bonus miles after every card anniversary. [1]

The card offers unlimited complimentary access to 1,300+ airport lounges, including Capital One Lounge and Landing locations. [1] Capital One miles can be redeemed at 1 cent each toward travel booked through Capital One Business Travel or used to offset eligible travel purchases. [1]

The welcome offer

The limited-time offer lets new cardholders earn 150,000 bonus miles after spending $40,000 on purchases in the first four months of account opening. [1] An additional 150,000 bonus miles and $1,000 in Capital One Business Travel credits are available in the first cardholder year after spending $120,000 in the same four months. [1]

The cheaper Capital One options

The Capital One Venture Business card has a $95 annual fee and welcome offers worth $1,000+ with smaller minimum spending requirements than the Venture X Business offer. [1] It comes with up to $100 in annual credits, including a $50 Capital One Business Travel credit each year and a $50 credit for eligible advertising and software purchases. [1]

The Capital One Venture Rewards card also has a $95 annual fee. [3] It offers a $300 Capital One Travel stays credit plus 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. [3]

It earns unlimited 2X miles on every purchase and 5X miles on hotels, vacation rentals and rental cars booked through Capital One Travel. [3] It lacks ongoing travel benefits such as statement credits or lounge access. [3]

The Chase side

The Chase Sapphire Preferred has a $95 annual fee. [3] New cardholders earn 75,000 bonus points after spending $5,000 on purchases in the first three months from account opening, a bonus worth at least $750 when redeemed through Chase Travel. [3]

It earns 2x on all other travel purchases and 1x on all other purchases. [3] It includes an annual statement credit of up to $100 for hotel stays through Chase Travel. [3] Spending $4,750 on general travel each year would cover its annual fee. [3]

At the premium end, Chase Sapphire Reserve has fees of up to $795 or more. [3]

How the premium cards and points compare

Premium cards from both issuers include airport lounge access, travel credits and elite status perks, but differ in guest policies and credit flexibility. [2] Bonus category earnings may be capped annually on some cards, while others offer unlimited base rewards. [2]

One program's points are valued at 2.05 cents each and the other's at 1.85 cents each as of October 2026 per TPG's valuations. [2]

What this means for you

If you cannot reach $40,000 in spending within four months, the Venture X Business welcome offer is hard to access. [1] The Capital One Venture Business card has welcome offers worth $1,000+ with smaller minimum spending requirements and a $95 annual fee. [1]

If you want one rate on everything, the Venture X Business card earns unlimited 2X miles on every purchase. [1] When you compare cards, check whether bonus category earnings are capped annually, since some cards cap them and others offer unlimited base rewards. [2]

On the Chase Sapphire Preferred, $4,750 of general travel spending in a year covers the $95 fee. [3]
